Three young men who are former street children and part of a surfing/street children advocacy team in Durban, South Africa called Surfers Not Street Children arrive in the UK tomorrow. They all grew up at Umthombo Street Children, our South African partner in Durban. Sihle, Lucky and Andile are now top surfers and ambassadors around street children issues. They are also qualified lifeguards and surfing instructors. They will be in the UK on a surfing/speaking tour sponsored by the British High Commission, British Airways, O’Neill surfing, and our friends, the Amos Trust. Street Action will be hosting an evening for supporters on Wednesday 10th July, where the three will share about their lives on the streets as children and how Umthombo empowered them. Details coming soon on this news page.
