Street Action USA will be formally launched on the 6th April in San Francisco, California. This will be an exciting development for Street Action as we focus our attentions on expanding and growing the support to our existing partners in South Africa and Burundi. Working in collaboration with the UK, Street Action USA will be building a wider network of links through relationships with government bodies, civil society, the business and corporate sector and an active contributing community of supporters. It will also seek to raise the profile and reputation of our focused work on the issue of street children and former street children through effective advocacy, research, lobbying, media and press work.

Co-founder and director Joe Walker will be travelling to San Francisco at the end of this month to attend the launch, to meet partners and potential funders and will be speaking at the University of San Francisco (USF). Street Action USA will work closely with USF that has an established and active group of students and academic staff with a history of involvement with our partner Umthombo Street Children. Street Action USA’s launch will be hosted by the USF Umthombo Club, set up to support and engage the student community in the work of Umthombo in South Africa. The launch of Street Action USA co-insides with the USF Umthombo Club’s ‘Street Children Awareness Week’ which Street Action will be involved in supporting. Joe Walker will speaking at a number of events, including a public lecture to highlight the issue of street children in Africa and the work of Street Action’s partners.
